Data Analysis & Dashboards with Power BI
This three-day course takes you from conflicting raw files to a published, interactive dashboard. You clean the data, build a sound model, and write DAX measures that answer management questions, then design and publish the dashboard with the right permissions. You work on a fictional government entity with ready data, and leave with a practical dashboard you can repeat in your own organization.
What You Will Learn
By completing this course, you will be able to:
- Import data from several files and clean it with documented Power Query steps.
- Build a star-schema data model with sound relationships and a date table.
- Write core and advanced DAX measures that answer management questions.
- Choose the right chart for each question and design a dashboard readable in 90 seconds.
- Publish and share the dashboard with the right permissions, including row-level security.
- Present a complete dashboard to a leadership committee and defend its numbers.
Program Modules
This module covers connecting to five raw files and cleaning them in Power Query. Participants leave with clean tables and a documented cleaning log.
This module covers the star schema, relationships, and the date table, with a focus on testing the model before any calculation. Participants leave with a sound model.
This module covers measures, filter context, and row context. Participants leave with eight core measures and a measures dictionary.
This module covers prior-year comparison, year-to-date, and ranking. Participants leave with eight advanced measures checked against known figures.
This module covers the chart-selection map and designing and connecting two dashboard pages. Participants leave with a two-page dashboard readable in 90 seconds.
This module covers publishing, permissions, and row-level security, then the final project. Participants leave with a published dashboard and a 30-day plan.
